Since 2002, Brothers’ Keeper Inc. has been a human service agency that is dedicated to serving youth, adults and families for Richmond VA and surrounding areas.
Our team consists of Behavioral Specialists, Day Treatment Counselors, Mental Health Skill Building Counselors, Crisis Stabilization Counselors, Intensive In-home Counselors, Substance Abuse Counselors and Outpatient Therapists that have worked in the human service field for over twenty years. We have served children, adults and families for a variety of issues, including learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, limited vocational skills, criminal backgrounds, and individuals who are at risk in their home, school, and communities.
MISSION STATEMENT - To create an environment that provides youth and adults an opportunity to grow and become productive citizens in their home, school and community. We increase academic achievement in children, improve social functioning, help develop coping and problem solving strategies, help to develop a sense of responsibility and worth in the community, and provide support in the home assisting and developing appropriate social skills to use in the communities.
Ms. Ann Hanford has served in the mental health field for a number of years. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Ms. Hanford attended Virginia Commonwealth University for undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education. She also attended Old Dominion University’s Continuing Education Program to complete coarse work in Play Therapy. Ms. Handford is a member of the Virginia Counselor’s Association, Richmond Area Counselor’s Association, Association for Play Therapy and Henrico & Chickahominy Medical Reserve Corps.
Jonathan Ugalde LPC-R
John Ugalde, originally from Johnstown, NY, has been in the mental health field since 2013. Graduating from Alfred University with a Bachelor in Counseling/Clinical Psychology with minors in Theatre and Music (2013) and Masters in Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate of Advanced Study (2015) from the same institution. Jonathan has worked with the Chesterfield SAFE Task Force, outpatient substance abuse clinics, wilderness therapy programs, and community based mental health programs. Clinical focuses/interests include crisis, substance use, life transitions, family and community systems, and group work.
