We provide a variety of services to help children and their families starting as young as pre-kindergarten through age 21.

Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT)

Serving children who struggle to get along with peers and adults in the school setting, are failing, having trouble adjusting, or at risk of suspension or alternative school setting.

  • Serving ages pre-school through 12 grade
  • School based throughout the school year
  • Daily groups and observation in the school
  • Goals that work towards your child's needs
  • Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to alter behaviors
  • Weekly individual counseling and weekly phone contact with family about child's progress
  • Monthly outings into community for children working towards achieving their goals
  • Quarterly family nights and parent workshops
  • Summer programs

Therapeutic After School Program

Our Therapeutic After-School Program aims to help improve overall functionality in children.

The program systematically addresses the following areas:

  • Anger management
  • Conflict resolution
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Development of pro-social skills
  • Impulse control
  • Respect for rules and/or authority
  • Personal/community responsibility

Intensive In-Home

Brothers’ Keeper Inc. aims to manage a child/adolescent’s behaviors and assist with empowering families in developing problem-solving skills and accessing community resources. Our staff are available around the clock to work with the entire family. We strive to prevent out-of-home placement for all children and adolescents we service with a mental health diagnosis.

The Intensive In-Home team is trained to address a wide variety of behavioral issues & psychological traumas associated such as child sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, domestic violence, traumatic loss, and even the multiple psychological traumas experienced by children/adolescents. These services may be delivered in various settings based on the need, however; are exclusive to the home environment.

  • Servicing children under the age of 21
  • Work towards keeping the child/adolescent in the home
  • Decrease the risk of out of home placements
  • Improve family dynamics
  • Provide modeling
  • Improve interpersonal relationships with family members
  • Provide clinical interventions to help improve functioning
  • Assist with decreasing behavioral, emotional and psychological barriers
  • Collaboration and linking of services, Case Coordination

Mental Health Skill Building (MHSB)

Serving adolescents and adults from ages 16 through adulthood

Individuals must demonstrate a condition due to mental, behavioral, or emotional illness and have a need to acquire basic living skills such as:

  • Symptom management
  • Adhere to psychiatric and medication treatment plans
  • Development and use appropriate social skills
  • Personal hygiene
  • Food preparation
  • Money management

Crisis Stabilization

Crisis stabilization program provides direct healthcare to persons experiencing an acute crisis of psychiatric nature that may jeopardize their current community living situation. Crisis Stabilization Services aims to assist individuals in a crisis situation to restore normalcy and to minimize the potential for psychological trauma.

Individuals must demonstrate a condition due to mental, behavioral, or emotional illness and have a need to acquire basic living skills such as:

  • We focus on addressing the needs of individuals who are experiencing a crisis.
  • Services are significantly geared towards preventing and or ameliorating a crisis that could result in psychiatric or inpatient hospitalization.
  • Potential candidates must be age 5 and above
  • Co-occurring mental health and substance abuse / use disorders.

REFERRALS:

We will accept referrals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Assessments will be completed within 24-72 hours of the referral. Please contact us at 804-687-5549 to make a referral.

Outpatient Program

BK Outpatient Program provides psychotherapeutic services to individuals, couples and families.

Significant treatment service components of the OP program include the following:

  • Adjustment issues
  • Anger management
  • Anxiety
  • Behavioral problems
  • Depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship problems
  • Separation and divorce
  • Stress management
  • Substance issues
  • Trauma

Substance Abuse Services

Serving adults and adolescents from ages 16 through adulthood.

Brothers’ Keeper Inc. provides comprehensive Outpatient Substance Abuse services to youth and adults. Treatment addresses specific behaviors and/or issues associated with or manifesting from substance use disorders.

Each participant’s treatment is individualized integrating an array of substance abuse modalities specific to addressing each individuals needs. In an effort to provide client-centered services, the outpatient substance abuse program employs a number of Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) in its treatment approach.
